High Peak School is fortunate in having its own swimming pool. Two of our young people took on a swimming incentive during the Easter holidays.
Over the two weeks, John* swam 575 lengths (about 6.4 miles), burning approx. 4974 calories (that’s over 8 ½ Big Macs) and Mark* (aged 9) swam 262 lengths (about 3 miles), burning approx. 1886 calories. (that’s 3 Big Macs and a serving of fries)
They both enjoyed the challenge and Mark enjoyed it so much that he has decided to do a sponsored swimathon. He is going to do as many lengths as he can this half term. He has suggested sponsorship at 10p per length.
He is raising money for Alderhey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool because he underwent treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma there several years ago.
High Peak staff are supporting Mark and are impressed that he has come up with such a positive plan. If you would like to make a pledge, contact [email protected]
