About Us:

Silverways School is an independent specialist school which caters for children with a diagnosis of autism. We offer the National Curriculum and a supplementary therapeutic curriculum for pupils aged 7-17 within a low arousal, enabling environment. We are part of the Kedleston Group.

Job Purpose:

As our school expands, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) & Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development, operation, support, and management of our Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision. Additionally, they will hold lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and promoting inclusive practices across the school.

About you:

For this role, we are looking for someone who holds QTS, and you will have experience of working with children with SEND and ASC. You will have the ability to work with pupils and their families in a sensitive and positive way, demonstrating a sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and its application and be able to show your understanding of the principles behind school improvement, including school improvement planning, monitoring and reviewing progress. You will make consistent judgements based on careful analysis of SEND data and present clearly a wide range of specialised information to both educationalists and non-educationalists.
