Headteacher's Welcome

Olsen House School is a very special place and I feel immensely proud to be the Headteacher of such a wonderful learning community. A welcoming, inclusive environment, visitors to Olsen often tell me that our school has the feel of an extended family, and nothing could make me feel more pleased. The warmth of the relationships we create is palpable and our ethos is one of caring, empathy and compassion. This gives us the foundations to establish the very high expectations that we have of every member of the Olsen House Team, staff and pupil alike.

Children feel safe and valued here. Diversity is enshrined in the school, and we value everybody for the unique gifts they bring. We will not tolerate bullying or discrimination and we guide our young people to make the positive decisions that will help them become successful and happy adults. Our curriculum is designed to engage our learners and to help them to take risks and explore, both in and out of the classroom. It provides excellent opportunities to develop their personal and social skills, whilst providing the pastoral and therapeutic support that they need.

Sean Whitehead, Headteacher.

Headteacher's Welcome

We are an independent specialist day school situated in the heart of the community in Sefton with excellent travel links across Merseyside.

The building is bright and welcoming with a variety of different learning spaces indoors and outdoors. Children and young people from diverse backgrounds come to the school because they cannot continue in mainstream education for various reasons.

Our school provides a safe learning environment for pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) with associated needs including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism (ASC) and moderate and specific learning difficulties (LD).

The school aims to prepare children and young people for the future through a modern curriculum that meets their individual needs and provides a nurturing environment where every young person is valued and supported.

There is also a specific part of the school, called the Olsen House Bluebird centre which supports young people who may have a primary diagnosis of autism.
