Our schools and homes support children and young people towards exciting and meaningful career opportunities...
This week, the children from our High Peak School in Cheshire East have been researching various industries and professions as they look towards their future career goals. Two of High Peak's values are to ‘aspire’ and ‘inspire’, which has certainly been demonstrated and put into practice throughout this week.
High Peak would like to thank the famous Swizzles LTD for coming into school in which their Director, Nici Matlow delivered a fantastic assembly about the confectionary industry and shared fascinating stories about the history of the company. Swizzles are based in the nearby village of New Mills, so it was fantastic to see a company from the local community join the school for careers week.
A group of children were also taken to The Northern School of Plastering where they spent a whole day learning about the construction industry. They all thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the practical workshop and they explored the various career routes/opportunities in construction. The children worked together on a brick laying project and demonstrated their skills in this field of work, which came highly praised by the staff.
High Peak have many more exciting opportunities to come as they continue to work with Stockport County FC who have offered an opportunity for the children to tour around their stadium and training facilities to gain an insight into the potential career routes in sport.
The Year 11's will also be visiting local universities where they can explore life at a Higher Education setting and research the courses on offer which they could study in the future.
This all sounds brilliant and certainly very aspirational and inspirational, great work High Peak.
Our schools and homes are focused on helping young people achieve the skills they need to succeed, getting them ready for further education and the workplace.
