Exciting news! National School Sports Week 2023 was a tremendous success, and the aim this year was to ensure that all children in the UK stay active for at least 60 minutes every day, as recommended by the Chief Medical Officers.
During the week, some of our schools joined in alongside over half a million people who pledged their support to the Youth Sport Trust, striving to increase physical activity among young people nationwide. At our Wings School Notts, they went above and beyond to fulfil their #PledgeToPlay through the Youth Sport Trust, and they had a brilliant week!
The highlight of the week was taking the young people to the One Call Stadium, the home of League 2's Mansfield Town, for an incredible day filled with football excitement. Under the guidance of the talented academy coaches from Mansfield Town, the team showcased exceptional skills and unwavering passion. The sunlit stadium served as an inspiring backdrop, and the smiles on everyone's faces were priceless.
Following the football session, they were treated to a fantastic presentation and indulged in a delicious buffet-style lunch in the hospitality rooms of Mansfield's stadium. And that's not all! They embarked on an exclusive stadium tour, exploring behind the scenes of a match day. The young people were thrilled to discover the secrets of the changing rooms and dugouts, experiencing the full spectrum of what it's like to be a professional player.
It was an unforgettable day that perfectly highlighted their commitment to the #PledgeToPlay. Moreover, these top-class sporting experiences continue to elevate the sporting aspirations of all the children at Wings School Notts. We can't wait for National Sports Week 2024, where there will be even more opportunities to keep the pledge alive!
Stay tuned for more incredible adventures and inspiring achievements. Let’s keep the spirit of sports and physical activity thriving!
