Who we are
It comprises of five bedrooms, staff bedroom, two communal bathroom, one upstairs and one downstairs, a spacious kitchen area and two lounge areas. At the front of the property there is ample parking within the grounds and additional on street parking as required. There is a large garden to the rear of the home which provides a huge outdoor space for the young people and a large decking area and a garden sensory hub. The house is situated on quiet side road which sees only light traffic for most of the day. As well as other residential properties there is a primary school nearby, as a result the road will see a slight increase in traffic at the beginning and end of the school day.
Our accommodation is designed, decorated and equipped to meet the needs of the children and young people in placement. This includes the encouragement for children and young people to personalise and decorate their bedrooms and personal space. All our bedrooms are single occupancy. All young people are given a key to their own bedroom – master keys are held by staff.
All children and young people are given a choice in the furnishing and decoration of their own bedroom and in the rest of the home to encourage self-expression and ownership. Facilities are provided for each child/young person suitable for study purposes. The accommodation has a communal kitchen, lounge, dining room and recreational room for use of the children and young people. The home also has a computer and a telephone for their use.
The staff team undertake specialist training so they can support children’s complex needs and mental health. The children’s home works with a team of clinicians which includes a psychologist, consultant psychiatrist, Occupational Therapist and a speech and language therapist.
