Arc School Old Arley saw 100% of its Year 11 leavers move on to further education, training or employment and 100% gain both a Maths and English qualification – 86% achieving a GCSE in the subjects. Additionally, 86% gained a Maths, English and Science GCSE.
Between them young people across the school achieved more than 70 qualifications overall – including 28 GCSEs – with each young person attaining an average of four GCSEs each.
The qualifications attained included GCSEs, BTECs and Functional Skills and Entry Level as well as D of E.
Each young person achieved an average of 10 qualifications in a range of academic, functional and vocational subjects including Maths, English, Science, History, Sociology, Carpentry, Media Studies, PE, Uniform Services, ICT, Performing Arts, Animal Care, Statistics and Duke of Edinburgh. This is the first year young people at the school have achieved History & Sociology GCSEs.
Their achievements have helped them secure places at mainstream colleges to study a wide range of subjects.
Dr Lynda Mitchell, Director of Quality and Compliance at Kedleston Group, said: "COVID-19 undoubtedly presented huge challenges for the young people at Arc School Old Arley. They have therefore done an amazing job and we’re thrilled to say that 100% of our leavers are moving on to further education in mainstream colleges or into training in an apprenticeship. We simply couldn’t be prouder of them.
“They have worked so hard for these qualifications. On their journey they’ve shown great resilience and determination to succeed. Our role here is to nurture their individual interests and talents and give the young people the skills, confidence and experiences they need to give them a foundation to build on for further success.”
Arc School Old Arley is a day school and provides education for children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
The school is part of the Kedleston Group which has a range of residential and day schools across the UK. Across the Group, young people celebrated successes in GCSEs including in mathematics, art, English and science. They also achieved BTECs, Foundation Studies, Entry Level and many other qualifications over the course of the year.
These successes and qualifications have seen 100% of leavers across the Group go on to further education, apprenticeships or employment. All of those moving on to further education will move on to a mainstream college environment.
