Outcomes
Leaways supports young people to gain the knowledge, skills and qualifications along with a range of other vocational qualifications depending on interest and needs for example a BTEC in Catering.
At every stage of their education we focus on preparing children and young people for the next stage, putting the development of their independence at the heart of everything we do. Our ultimate goal is for all our children and young people to be confident and capable young people who leave school equipped to lead fulfilling lives in this rapidly changing world.
Children and young people enjoy access to an extensive range of imaginative learning opportunities which capture and sustain their interest and a range of qualifications including GCSEs are available for study and achievement.
Careers – Thinking about the future?
We will support your child/young person towards the best possible future pathway. We will work closely with you on your child`s hopes, dreams and aspirations.
At Leaways we are constantly working on helping children develop the qualities, skills and knowledge that they will need to go on to have successful academic and working careers. This is a focus of everything that we do; our curriculum is built around developing academic knowledge, practical skills and the personal and social skills required for the modern employment market.
Children from KS4 are provided with opportunities to achieve the Gatsby Benchmarks. This includes: education around careers and employment within school, encounters with employers and employees, experiences of the work place, experiences with Further and Higher education, individual career advise and guidance in KS3 and 4 and learning about the Labour Market and how Labour Market information can be used to guide their career choices.
One of the routes that our young people might choose to take when progressing with their education when they leave Leaways School might be to undertake an Apprentship. Children are encouraged to discuss these options with their careers advisor, tutor or any other member of staff.
Children and young people from Leaways also have the opportunity to take part in a range of exciting work experience placements in the community such as mechanics, catering and bike maintenance often leading to employment.
