Our Leaways School in London is celebrating after Ofsted Inspectors recently found it to be graded “good” in all areas. This is a real testament to the dedication and hard work of our amazing staff and children!
The accomplishment reflects the commitment to providing a nurturing, stimulating, and inclusive learning space, where every individual can thrive and reach their full potential.
The school in Hackney, provides a safe learning environment for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health difficulties including those on the autism spectrum.
Inspectors commented that the “staff support pupils calmly and effectively so that they have a happy and successful time…” and that “leaders put together a personalised curriculum for each pupil, according to their special educational needs and/or disabilities.”
Throughout the year Leaways School London has been embracing learning away from the classroom environment and making the most of the wealth of locations and attractions close to the school to enhance pupils’ learning. The inspectors agreed that “pupils enjoy a wide range of educational activities and outings that support their learning.”
It was clear to see by the inspectors that “there are many opportunities for pupils to read, in and out of lessons. Pupils develop a love of reading and are motivated to read by school competitions and prizes. Pupils participated enthusiastically in the recent spelling bee, cheering each other’s successes.”
Preparation for the future is a real focus at Leaways School, and the inspectors noted that “pupils receive impartial guidance on pathways to their chosen careers. Staff help pupils to build skills relevant to the world of work, for example by role playing telephone conversations in business contexts. Pupils develop independence and confidence. They are well prepared for their next steps.”
