Securing Education and School (SES) is the schools induction and mentoring programme. Developed specifically to support and re-engage young people back in to school and education. Many of the young people Leaways come in to contact with have been out of school and disengaged for some time. The school delivers a mixture of both on and off site sessions in a safe environment familiar to the young person.
These sessions combine mentoring, project work and lessons alongside a programme of social skills and interaction which allows young people to feel confident in returning to school. The school is proud of the success it has had, working in partnership, to reintegrate the most complex and vulnerable young people back in to learning and full time education.
Following on from the SES programme the school implements its readiness for learning group. The staff at Leaways School understand that many of the prospective students may have had difficult past experiences of school. The school offers this learning group as a nurturing and gradual introduction in to the school.
There is increased support and highly individualised timetables which help develop academic progress from an early stage but fundamentally helps ease the anxieties of starting somewhere new.
