Students in art have been looking at the work of LS Lowry who is famous for painting urban landscapes of the North of England.
They worked hard to understand the techniques that Lowry used so that they could create their own interpretation of Lowry's work. As part of their work, pupils learned about tonal scales and experimented with the 5 colours Lowry used.
The pupils used the school camera to take photographs of the streets near the school to get ideas for their own pictures, before starting work on their own pictures.
They created their own picture using graphite transfer onto paper and then painted with them with watercolours to add detail. Finally, a black pen was used to outline the detail in each picture to get a better 'Lowry' look.
The finished pictures are now displayed in the Art Room at Olsen House School, on the KS3 Art Gallery Wall.
