Who we are
Wings Notts is an independent special school located in the picturesque village of Kirklington, local to Newark and the Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire border. The school sits in almost 20 acres of grounds and pupils benefit from extensive indoor and outdoor facilities.
Our school supports children aged from 9 to 17 years old who are on the autistic spectrum and are struggling in education and to fit in at mainstream or other specialist settings. Pupils will have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) but may not have a diagnosis however display traits of autism and associated conditions. We currently have pupils from 15 Local Authorities including Nottinghamshire, Nottingham City, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire.
We focus on preparing our pupils for life after Wings and equipping them with the skills they need to thrive in further education, work and adult life. During their education with us, our pupils have a diverse range of opportunities to try new and exciting things, and with each comes knowledge and confidence. To break down the challenges faced pupils work with our talented drama teacher, taking a therapeutic approach to modelling real life experiences through roleplay which supports them to manage anxiety around scenarios like visits to college, work experience placements or leisure activities.
