Headteacher's Welcome

“Arc School Ansley is different to any school environment you will have come across before.  When people visit, they comment on the calm, welcoming atmosphere and this is something the whole school takes pride in.

We provide an environment where children and staff learn and grow together.  Children follow the National Curriculum, but our education goes far beyond that. We teach children to think and analyse, reflect, and evaluate.  We teach our children to grow as individuals and learn to become more than they believed they could.  We work to create a community in which everyone can be a successful member, whether that is pupils, parents, or staff.  We welcome difference, nurture diversity, and develop confidence to enable our pupils to become independent and confident members of society.”

Headteacher, Nyree Parker

Meet the team

We welcome the opportunity to work with children and young people towards their individual goals, aspirations and develop as successful members of their community.

Those who come to the school have a diagnosis of autism spectrum condition (ASC) and often many associated social, emotional and mental health needs.

We believe all children and young people are entitled to a nurturing environment that demonstrates care, empathy and support in order to help our young people identify positive aspects of their everyday lives.

Our school provides a safe learning environment for children and young people with educational, social and emotional needs associated with their autism such as sensory processing difficulties, communication difficulties and high levels of anxiety.

Many of our young people have experienced significant difficulties in mainstream school as a result of their associated social, emotional and mental health difficulties.  We support our children and young people through specialist teaching and intervention including a range of therapeutic supports.

Excellence in Pupil Development

Arc School Ansley is working towards achieving the Excellence in Pupil Development Award (EPDA). The award focuses on supporting pupils to develop their own personal skills such a self-confidence, resilience and self-discipline. The award also supports pupils to understand their local community and get involved in local and national organisations. Pupils will focus on developing their own behaviours and learn to be responsible citizens.

Alongside this, Arc School Ansley will continue to develop the enriched curriculum to make sure pupils have the essential knowledge to engage in their communities when they leave school. If you do have any questions regarding this award, please do get in touch with Alice Tucker.

Testimonials

  • “The personal development, behaviour and welfare of pupils is a strength of the school. Staff work effectively with therapists and external agencies to support pupils so that most make strong social and emotional progress from their starting points.”

    Ofsted

  • "Above and beyond anything any of us had hoped for - he is happy, he wants to attend and he feels he belongs."

    Parent

  • "I would like to personally thank the staff at Arc school Ansley for getting my son through his exams. It has been an extremely difficult time and he was transferred there just before Covid started. There are some amazing staff in the school who have gone above and beyond to support. Including the head and deputy head. I feel they need the recognition too for their hard work."

    Parent

  • “It used to take me half an hour to persuade my son out of the house to go to his previous school, but now he is up early and ready for his transport in the mornings as he looks forward to going to Arc School Ansley. "

    Parent

  • “I couldn’t be happier with how my son is doing at the school.”

    Parent

  • “Teachers have a clear understanding of pupils’ individual needs. They use prior information about pupils’ learning to set work at the right level. As a result, the vast majority make good progress from their starting points.”
